Japan
The collaboration of the Novosibirsk State
Conservatoire with Japanese musicians has three directions:
performances of the Japanese vocal chamber music, koto execution
and scientific research of the Japanese music. The development of
creative relations between Russian and Japanese musicians was
promoted by the formation of the Novosibirsk City Center of
Japanese Musical Culture in 1992. During last five years 54
concerts of Japanese and Russian music were held in Novosibirsk.
The programs were performed through the efforts of the
Conservatoire musicians and their Japanese colleagues. The
students and graduates of the Conservatoire have given a lot of
concerts in various towns of Japan with a great success.
Professors of the Conservatoire deliver lectures on Japanese and
Russian music to the students in Novosibirsk and Sapporo. A number
of Novosibirsk musicians playing koto - tradition Japanese
instrument - increases. At the Conservatoire was formed a
scientific school specialized in a Japanese musicology. The
teachers and students of the ethnomusicology chaire research
various theoretical problems of the traditional and modern
Japanese music. The scientists and musicians of the Conservatoire
have being in Japan with the purposes of scientific training.
